Refreshing data
Manual refresh (default)
By default, you need to manually refresh the Data Source whenever you want a data sync to happen.
The easiest way to do this is to roll your Last actual date forward to the new month, which will prompt you to refresh data sources associated with the current model and any linked models.
If you are simply wanting to pull the latest data for an existing historical month (up to and including the Last actual date), you can trigger a refresh via the Data preview inside a model, or via the Data Page.
You can refresh a data source if you own it or if you have edit permission for a model it has been used in (see Sharing models).
Automatic refresh
If you do want to set up auto-refresh for a data source, you can do so by heading to the Data Page, and opening the Data Source.
After selecting the refresh interval (daily, weekly, or monthly) you can set the day and time when you want the refresh to happen. We will make a best effort attempt to refresh at your chosen time, but the refresh can be slightly delayed due to server load and other factors.
Even if auto-refresh is on, data will not be pulled beyond the Last actual date of each model (until the Last actual date is rolled forward). Read more here Last actual date.
Data sync history
Causal shows a full history of your data source refreshes. This means you're able to see a list of all previous refreshes, as well as: any new data items, categories, or category items, within each sync.
